Exciting New Developments at Le Jardin Lilongwe!
The owners of Le Jardin Lilongwe have transformed a section of their residential property in Area 43, Lilongwe, into a breathtaking multipurpose event park. Spanning 0.4 hectares, this serene space now features stunning water elements, exotic trees, and a carefully curated selection of rare plants.
In place of the planned main house, a spacious parking area accommodating up to 45 vehicles has been created. This was no small feat, as the land’s steep 60º gradient required the use of heavy machinery to level the ground. The process involved clearing large amounts of rock and vegetation, followed by the addition of nutrient-rich soil and manure to create an ideal environment for the vibrant flora.
The park's design also incorporates charming hill formations, elegant water features, and a reliable irrigation system supported by boreholes. To ensure the garden flourishes year-round, underground sprinklers have been installed, complemented by decorative garden pots that enhance the overall aesthetic.
Le Jardin Lilongwe’s event park is a stunning venue designed to offer an unforgettable experience, whether for intimate gatherings or large celebrations.
Blossoming Office Garden
In January 2023, Hail and Cotton (H&C) approached Le Jardin Lilongwe to transform an abandoned office site in Kanengo, Lilongwe, into a vibrant garden. H&C had just leased the building to establish their Malawi office and wanted the garden completed within a month. After discussions, we agreed on developing a lush tropical garden. This involved landscape preparation, soil nutrient improvement, planting a variety of tropical plants, and creating a welcoming sitting area accented by potted greenery.
Due to ongoing building renovations, the garden development extended beyond the initial timeline, and after three months of dedicated effort, the project was successfully completed in May 2023. The finished garden has since brought new life to the office space, attracting the admiration of many in the Kanengo area.
Impressed with our work, H&C chose to continue working with us, engaging Le Jardin Lilongwe for routine garden maintenance starting in June 2023—a partnership that continues to this day.
Le Jardin Lilongwe: Transforming Landscapes, Building Trust
In May 2024, Le Jardin Lilongwe was once again called upon to demonstrate its expertise in landscaping, this time by Old Mutual Malawi. Tasked with revamping the outdoor and indoor green spaces of the newly constructed Mthunzi Funeral Service Center in Lilongwe, Le Jardin’s reputation as a leading professional landscaping firm was put to the test.
The challenge was clear. Old Mutual was dissatisfied with the initial landscaping work and required a complete overhaul, including new flowerbeds and carefully placed potted plants to enhance both the interior and exterior spaces. With the inauguration date fast approaching, Le Jardin was initially asked to complete the transformation within a week—an ambitious deadline given the scope of the work and ongoing construction at the site.
The funeral service center spans approximately one acre, and after thoroughly studying the site plan, it became evident that meeting the one-week deadline would compromise the quality of the project. A revised timeline of one month was agreed upon, allowing for the meticulous attention to detail that Le Jardin Lilongwe is known for.
The project required extensive land clearing, excavation to remove unwanted rocks and soil, and the delivery of over 21 tons of topsoil. A substantial amount of greenery was introduced, including 15 sacks of grass and nearly 2,000 different plant species, all carefully chosen to bring the landscape to life. The result was a serene and beautifully manicured environment, perfectly suited to the dignity of the Mthunzi Funeral Service Center.
Impressed with the high standard of professionalism and the quality of work, Old Mutual Malawi decided to retain Le Jardin Lilongwe for the ongoing routine garden maintenance of the center, ensuring that the landscape remains pristine and welcoming to all who visit.
Le Jardin Lilongwe is proud to have partnered with Old Mutual Malawi on this project and continues to build a legacy of trust and excellence through its commitment to transforming spaces into works of art.
